Empowering Women and Girls for Self-Sufficiency.
The purpose of IB Helping Hands, Inc. is to nurture and empower women and girls by providing the resources, education, and support necessary for self-sufficiency. We believe in the transformative power of helping others, recognizing that it not only changes the lives of those we assist but also enriches our own.
By fostering an environment of compassion and mutual growth, we create opportunities for individuals to develop their skills, confidence, and independence. Our commitment to community engagement and empowerment extends to all corners of society, aiming to build a resilient, inclusive, and thriving community
where every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential and contribute meaningfully to the world. Through our dedicated efforts, we strive to create a ripple effect of positive change, enhancing the lives of those we touch and reinforcing the notion that by helping others, we truly help ourselves.
IB Helping Hands, Inc. has its roots deeply embedded in the spirit of service and compassion. Our journey began in 1993, in the living room of our Founding CEO, with the inception of a weekly women's support group called "Woman to Woman." This was followed by the launch of "Save Our Youths," a program designed to provide afterschool homework assistance and engaging activities for children aged 5 to 13. As our initiatives grew, the city's recognition of our youth participants' involvement and talents further fueled our mission.
To cater to the older youth, we introduced "Teens with a Vision," a group for individuals aged 14 to 19, fostering mutual support, community engagement, and interactions with peers from diverse backgrounds. In November 1997, we evolved into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization named "Power in the Word Family Life Center, Inc." in Columbus, Ohio, with a focus on aiding women and children through computer training, employment support programs, and essential assistance.
Now headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, we continue to extend our support to neighboring communities. Our program portfolio has expanded to include Social Services Programs, an Adopt-A-Student Program, and our Next-Step College Initiative Program, which offers grants to young women pursuing four-year college degrees.
Our mission remains steadfast in empowering women and girls to achieve self-sufficiency by providing them with the necessary tools and resources.
