The establishment of IB Helping Hands, Inc. is deeply rooted in a commitment to assisting others. Our journey commenced in 1993 in the living room of our Founding CEO, where we initiated a weekly women's support group named "Woman to Woman." Subsequently, we introduced our youth program, "Save Our Youths," offering afterschool homework assistance and engaging activities for children aged 5 to 13. As our initiatives expanded, our efforts were acknowledged by the city, with our youth participants being commended for their involvement and talents. To cater to the maturing demographic, we introduced "Teens with a Vision," a youth group for individuals aged 14 to 19, fostering mutual support, community engagement, and interaction with peers from diverse backgrounds.
In November 1997, our organization transitioned into a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity named "Power in the Word Family Life Center, Inc.," operating in Columbus, Ohio. Our primary focus was on aiding women and children in the local community through initiatives such as computer training, employment support programs, and essential assistance to program beneficiaries.
Currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina, our organization continues to extend services and support to neighboring communities. With our growth, our program portfolio has expanded to include Social Services Programs, an Adopt-A-Student Program, an Annual Back-To-School Drive, a Holiday Gift Giving Program, and a Next-Step College Initiative Program, offering grants to young women pursuing four-year college degrees.
Our core mission and values remain centered on empowering women and girls to achieve self-sufficiency by equipping them with the necessary tools and resources.
